Cool title or what?!?

American independence and the month of April exploring the wonders of American wine and the Nappa Valley is firmly on my radar - when I maybe allowed in probably a long time yet!

As long as the wines keep getting exported!

Ive found some almighty crackers and, although mainly reds, explored blends and cemented the wonderfully inexpensive shelf wines of Barefoot! - seriously easy wine and perfect for anyone who wants to get into wine!

Now some trivia of the valley itself -

over 375 wineries with 95% of them family owned which means quality and care!

Mass production of wine is essential - but make it a quality output - Nappa rock!

Ive not had a bad bottle at all this month and the complete fine for me is the Wente bottles!

2 of the Wente bottles I’ve tried have made my 2021 best bottles and considering we are 4 months is and only 6 bottles out of the (not that many) lot I’ve tried!

Now consider this - Nappa valley is 40 years old and the wines of some of the rest of the world is aged in the 000s - not a bad achievement for a youngun!

Yes they’ve been making wine since 1861 - but on the established platform we now see - 1981.

Some that still stand and the eldest of them all is the Charles Krug Winery - just about to order some of this Vinyard and hopefully they’ll be here by Friday for the final day!

Ill miss these wines and the exploration - but Australia in May and one of my favs!

Lots of sparkling reds to post ahead of the summer and the best come from Oz!
